BINOCULARS -Please help me out in choosing a good binocular........?
I m having a Tasco 20X21 compact binocular.I want to a binocular to use it in daylight as well as in Night for star watching.I searched over net and found that binoculars above 7-8X magnification prove to be shaky. But i want to know that if i would go for a 7X50 binocular then will it help me viewing the stars and moon more clearly and greater than my present 20X21 bino???????one more thing if i stick to my present bino which is 20X21 and add a tripod to it and then will it help me to see moon more clearly then 7X50 bino??Also i want some good telescopes of mag 100+ and within 50$.Please give your expert comments,as you can see i am new to this vast field of Amateur ASTRONOMY.
7x50 binos are the standard for just about any type observing. The larger the aperture, the more light reaches your eyes. 12x60's or 15x70's (thereabouts) are great for astronomy. Great sweeps of the sky and not terrible heavy.
To add stability, you can make (or purchase) a parallelogram mount. This allows you to sit down to observe, or stand and look at something without holding the binoculars.
Another option, but a little more expensive, is a front surface mirror mount. This allows you to point the binos down and lets the mirror look up, thus saving your neck.
