John Cusack as a love struck Lloyd armed with a boom box and playing Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" outside a girl's window in the hit movie "Say Anything." Romantic? Sure. Silly? Definitely! Do that in real life and you just might end up in jail. Girls in love can be downright crazy, but their male counterparts can have their moments, too. Here's some of the silly, funny and, creepy things that guys resort to to get a girl's attention:
Stalk her. Standing outside her apartment with binoculars, slipping tear-stained love notes under her door, leaving sexually charged messages on her answering machine. Just ask the celebrities and you'll get the picture. A man once threatened to assassinate the American president just to get Jodie Foster to pay attention to him. Halle Berry was left badly shaken when she was stalked by a man who claimed to be acting on God's orders to marry her.
Fake it. Some guys try and get the girl to believe other girls are dying to be with him so she'd get a little jealous, or at least intrigued to hook up with him. Some even create fake Facebook profiles of females and having all these "girls" leave racy comments on his status updates or wall.
In the movie "My Best Friend's Girl," Jason Biggs' character was so madly in love with Alexis, played by Kate Hudson. Problem is, she won't give him the time of her life, prompting Dustin (Biggs) to ask his cousin Tank (Dane Cook) to pretend to ask her for a date and act like a total jerk the whole time. Tank's mission: Scare Alexis so much that she'll leap straight into Dustin's arms. The mission bombed as Alexis ends up falling for Tank instead. If you want to try this strategy, make sure the other guy is nowhere near as hot as Dane Cook.
Gawk at her. It's true girls love attention, but if all you do is stand in a corner and creepily leer at her all night thinking it's a perfectly cool and harmless thing to do, you're wrong - It's annoying and unnerving to say the least!
If his arsenal of corny pickup lines, lewd emails and text messages, and staring at you across the room all night is not working and he still persists what do you do? Call the cops!
Some men are so intent to win a girl's attention by hook or by crook that the only thing they succeed at is to make her feel creeped out. If you're on the verge of doing just that, remember that sometimes girls like it if a man is somewhat unavailable and distant. So, try giving her a cold shoulder combined with some subtle teasing/flirting and you just might get her to pay attention to you.
