Astronomy question: Telescopes on a cloudy night?
How would you feel if you wrote a proposal for telescope time, got the time, traveled to the telescope, and then it was cloudy on your night? What strategies could you use to keep your research going in the face of this risk?
This is a fact of life. If the observations are worth doing in the first place then it is worth rebooking the time. Most research telescope schedules have flexibility built in to allow for this and allow you to specify "at this time only" or "as the work schedule and weather conditions permit". Most of the time observations are done by professional operators anyway, so it is simply a matter of waiting until your results turn up.
