i need some help with my telesope?
i have a tasco, 60mm refractor with a 600mm focal length, i have a 1.5x erector a 2x barlow with 3 lenses a 25mm, a 12.5mm and a 4mm, now, here's my question...what can i actually do with such a meak telescope? i've been trying to see jupiter for the past two days because apparently it has that capability.
however all i see is something that resembles a star, and i know it's jupiter because i can see where it comes in close with sagittarius.
now, is there anything i can do to increase the available light coming through my scope? and can anyone name some moderately cheap refractors that have a mirror diameter over 60mm and will actually give me results? and i'm looking in the range of $100-200 dollars.
As Spacy said, the biggest frustration is usually the mount - make sure everything's as tight as it can be (without stripping the threads!!) and try hanging a heavy weight from the top of the tripod.
I'd ignore the erector, barlow and 4mm lens - they're not going to do anything for you.
