Birdwatching is a fast growing hobby among nature lovers from around the world.
There are millions of devotees to this 'green' hobby.
Israel has become an important location for birds' enthusiastic watchers, and several sites are of particular interest for birdwatchers, which often arrive to observe the wonders of coveys crossing Israel on their journey from Europe to Africa, as the seasons change.
Agamon Lake in the Upper Galilee is such a favorite, beautiful site.
Among the many types of birds you may find Pelicans, Cranes, several kinds of waterbirds, vultures and others.
Agamon Lake offer good facilities for visitors, and the best time of the year to come is in-between seasons. The ordinary equipment of special binoculars and telescopes, mounted on professional tripods, is essential.

Another excellent site to watch birds in Israel is in the northern nature reserve of Gamla on the Golan Heights.
The major type of bird found at the Gamla site is the vulture. These carrion-eating birds are being looked after zoologists in Israel, who are doing their best to protect it and keep this breed of birds survive the hazards of modern times.
Constant monitoring of the remaining vultures are being held, and it's customary to have wounded vultures treated and supported by devoted staff of the nature reserve society.
In Jerusalem, birdwatchers will mainly see a variety of songbirds. That's because Jerusalem is not located near any water, the type of visiting birds is different.
The fish ponds of Kibbutz Maagan Michael are probably one of the most popular sites for the wandering birds who cross Israel, to take a break in.
All kinds of waterbirds are hovering by the ponds in a quest for food.
You may see here herons, egrets, cormorants, storks, songbirds and many more.
A most popular place to watch birds is also in the very of Israel, near the resort town of Eilat.
Eilat is situated by the Red Sea, and is en-route for the wandering birds who flock through the area, year after year, on its passage from Europe to Africa, or to put it in a 'natural' way, from the cold countries to the warmer ones.
The type of birds to see here is usually vultures, waterbirds and songbirds
