Reviewing The Barska Fingerprint Safe
This Barska fingerprint safe is about 16 inches wide, 14 inches deep and 7 inches high. It is quite big enough to keep jewelry, prescription drugs, important legal papers, or, the more typically - guns.
Of course since this model is a biometric safe it opens with the simple touch of your finger. Up to thirty fingerprints can be stored. This means you don't have to look for keys or quickly try and remember (and enter) the combination. Merely "touch and go". It's memory runs on 4 AA batteries.
Are you worried about the batteries dying? Not to worry! Well, this manufacturer doesn't give out the details of failure rates, but assuming it is the same as other fingerprint safe manufacturers, its fall rate should be much much less than 1%.
Whatever the case, there is nothing to worry about in this regard. The biometric safe comes with special keys that allow you to get into the safe in the event that there's a malfunction with the electronics.
Sturdily built, it weighs in at around 30lbs. The door is heavy, but opens and closes easily. Bolt holes are built into it allowing you to mount it on a counter or in a wall. The owner can also securely double bolt it by bolting it to a shelf and the wall behind.
Reviewing this fingerprint safe wouldn't be complete without the pluses and minuses of owning the said product. This biometric safe holds 30 fingerprints. This lets you enter someone else's fingerprints, but, more importantly, it also allows you to enter multiple fingerprints of your own. You can do this by positioning your finger a little bit differently every time you store a print. That means you will have less problems and will get the safe opened quicker if you have these multiple prints of your own stored in its memory. If you had just one print stored, you'd have to place your finger almost identically every time you open it. By having multiple fingerprints stored, you are allowing for variations in finger placement when touching it.
Buying a product while not understanding everything about it isn't always optimal. By letting you have access to the full owners manual online, Barska lets you make a fully informed decision. A person can learn all about it's features before they even get it. This instills confidence in your purchase. This particular biometric safe is near the top of the list, as far as price and quality are concerned. This sells for less than two hundred dollars.
The following can't really be called encumbrances, only things to be aware of. The door is constructed of heavy steel, making up a slight majority of the weight, as it's the point of security. The sides of the box, while notably sturdy, can be broken into with the correct tools. This is a reason to mount any kind of safe. Besides, mounting it keeps someone from walking off with it. The wake up button should be depressed when you shut the safes door. This way you know the door shuts correctly. This is probably no different than any other fingerprint safe but if you only have a single fingerprint of a person stored in the memory, you may have to try a couple times to get your finger positioned just right and it opens.
